Preparing and racing a mud-bash buggy, canoeing through scenic waterways or completing five-day rugged bushwalking treks are all part of the fun and adventure for VACC apprentice Kieren Simpson.

On Friday 27 October 2017, in a gruelling six hour competition at Chisholm Institute’s Dandenong campus, VACC apprentice Matt De Groot competed in the Melbourne East regional automotive mechanics category in the WorldSkills competition.

Finn Hussey is a second year apprentice motor mechanic currently working at Porsche Centre Doncaster. “I believe I was nominated for the scholarship because my work efforts were recognised by the teachers. I also believe the teachers noticed how dedicated I was at ensuring I was learning everything I could, ignoring distractions, staying focused and keeping my head down and absorbing as much information as possible,” Finn said.
