GETTING STARTED TOGETHER
How to Prepare for Sign-Up
The sign-up process is the official start of your child’s apprenticeship. This is where training contracts are lodged, eligibility for government programs is checked, and all the initial details are confirmed. Parents or guardians may also need to be present if the apprentice is under 18, as signatures are required.
Essential Forms and Requirements
Some forms are required before your child can begin earning and learning.
Additional acknowledgements include drug and alcohol policies, workplace health and safety procedures, and an Induction Checklist that must be signed off within the first week at their Host Business.
Banking details (EFT Form)
This form authorises VACC Payroll to deposit wages directly into the apprentice’s nominated bank account. Apprentices should double-check account numbers carefully, as incorrect details can delay payment. If banking details ever change, Payroll must be notified immediately to avoid disruptions.
Tax File Number Declaration
This form ensures the correct amount of tax is withheld from each pay in accordance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements. It also links the apprentice’s employment to their MyGov and ATO records for end-of-year income summaries and tax returns.
Superannuation Form
Superannuation is money set aside for retirement. Through this form, apprentices can nominate their preferred super fund or choose to join.
Emergency Contact Form
This form records the details of a parent, guardian, or next of kin to be contacted in the event of an emergency. Having up-to-date information ensures that VACC and Host Employers can respond quickly and appropriately if something happens in the workplace or while travelling to and from work.
