Matthew Frearson with his 3rd award

VACC third year apprentice motor mechanic, Matthew Frearson (pictured) is making a good habit of winning trade school awards.

Matthew has been judged the winner of the VACC Apprentice of the Year Award. A ceremony at Kangan Institute’s Automotive Centre of Excellence for various category award winners was conducted on Wednesday evening 6 August 2014.

Matthew’s specific award category is open to all light vehicle motor mechanic apprentices attending Kangan Institute.

Matthew, who currently works at Essendon Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Essendon Fields, said, “I felt really happy when I found out I had been selected to win this award. I feel I do well in the trade as I enjoy what I do and it appeals to me.”

Matthew has won trade school awards in his first and second year levels from nominations by his trade school teachers for outstanding results, attitude and attendance. This award was presented to him for the same reasons.

“He is a tremendously keen apprentice who loves the trade,” said VACC Auto Apprenticeships Field Manager, Steve Tye Din.

“He actively seeks out knowledge and asks plenty of questions to gain a better understanding on what he’s learning at school or repairing vehicles in the workshop. He is a very worthy winner of this fine award.”

Matthew’s winning prize was a $500.00 gift voucher from Burson Auto Parts.
